Parvathamalai

I woke up at 4:30 AM. Got ready and left the guest house at around 5 AM. At the main road, I boarded a bus and got off at Tiruvannamalai bus station. I enquired with the people around on a bus to Parvathamalai. They directed me to the exit of the bus station. There was a private bus waiting to be filled.

Sri Lakshmi Adinarayana Swami Temple, Yellodu

Our first trek for the day to Gudibande fort had filled us with energy and enthusiasm. We took some interior unpaved roads suggested by Google maps to our next destination - Lakshmi Adinarayana swami temple, Yellodu. The road passed through vineyards and was an interesting drive.

Gadaikallu aka Jamalabad Fort Trek

I had trekked Gadaikallu back in 2010. But, I had completely forgotten about the experience. So, I planned to trek to Gadaikallu again along with my friends Naresh and Deekshit. On thursday, the 9th of December, I picked up Deekshit from Surathkal bus station and drove to Naresh’s house. His mother had invited us over for lunch. We had a heavy and delicious meal at their place. While Naresh finished his meeting, we had a good chat with his parents.

Bananthimari Betta Trek

Bananthimari betta aka Maribetta aka Karadibetta is one of the less explored hills in the vicinity of Bangalore. I had always wanted to trek here but found very less reliable information on the place. A week ago, when my colleague Sharath and I were planning on a trek during the long weekend, this was an obvious choice. As the day of trek approached (3rd September), we were joined by 10 other people.

Exploring A Tibetan Settlement

Have you ever got up one morning and thought of going anywhere far away from everything that you are part of and explore yourself on an unknown, unplanned journey to somewhere? Have you felt good about the thought of disappearing away from this chaotic city life and go somewhere more serene? Well if you ask me, I have always had this thought. I wanted to just tread on an unknown path, to a place where I do not know anybody and no one knows me. And this weekend that dream turned into reality. A few weekends of watching television, meeting friends and shopping made me wonder if I had nothing exciting to do out of these two days that I get. This was when I decided on going on this unplanned trip to somewhere. I always wanted to go to Bylekuppe, it’s one of the largest Tibetan settlement in India and here in Karnataka. Yes not in Nepal, Bhutan or any other north eastern part of India, but very much in my own state, Karnataka. Except this and directions to get there, I knew nothing else...
