La Mauvaise Foi

La liberté est ce que vous faites avec ce qui a été fait à vous.   (Freedom is what you do with what has been done to you) - Jean-Paul Sartre.   You try to wake up on time every morning. Sometimes you have had a good sleep, sometimes you haven’t, because you were anxious. You try to finish your morning routine as early as possible because you have to leave home by 8AM; to reach office by 9 AM. Office, a place where you spend at least 9 hours of your day, working on things that you probably do not even make use of. But they are important, because they are owned by someone else and they would sell it to other people and make money. You will have to help them make that money because a tiny fraction of that money becomes your salary. There is another person above you, whose primary job is to manage you and make sure you work as intended. You aspire to be that person someday, as he on the other hand, aspires to be the person above him.

I am beginning to realize that everything we do follows a rhythm, and if we recognize that rhythm then nothing seems to be difficult or stressful or disappointing.

With my ear phones plugged-in one day, I stepped out of my house towards the office cab. As the music played, I observed that everything around me happened so much in sync with the music itself; the moving of the vehicle, people, dancing of trees with the wind and so on. This might have occurred before but it was the first time I realized that.

Since then I have been noticing them in everything I do. When we jog, the body adheres to a rhythm, once you are able to recognize that, the jog becomes tireless; when I cycle, in the movement of the paddle – up and down, as the leg follows it; when reading, in the coordination of eye and mind. While painting, in the flexing of the brush.

Not sure how true this is but, the secret lies within!

  1. Yes, very true - it does wonders.
Listen to the music but the the sound, listen to the rhythm but not the noise ;)

  2. :-) true....yes the sound and noise is what prevents us from noticing that rythm always, i guess. :-)

  3. Quite right Ajeya! Perhaps, all we need to do is to sync with the rhythm!

    I call that harmony!

  4. I agree with u Ajeya....secret lies within us! Music is really very soothing. P used to sleep listening music wen she was 5-6 mnths old.

  5. Have you wondered - even silence is a rhythm :)
