Backpacking Vietnam: Day 05 (27 July 2019)
Ha Giang
Next morning, I bid farewell to Mama Bau and thanked her for a wonderful hospitality. Her husband dropped me at Sapa bus stand. That was the only time he was seen smiling as this trip to town would fetch him some money. Otherwise, it was only the women who did most of the work and communciation at the guesthouse.
I boarded a min bus and headed towards Ha Giang. It took me approximately 5 Hours to reach there with a stop for lunch where I luckily found some rice and vegetables.
At Ha Giang, I had booked Bông hostel. I checked in and then walked around to explore this small town. There isn’t much to do here. So, I visited the market, bought some local tropical fruits, had a mango smoothie and enjoyed the beautiful views this place had to offer.
At a nearby park, kids were busy playing. I spent some time there before heading back to the hostel. At Hostel, the receptionist Ann was very friendly. She wanted to communicate in English and learn the language. She took my blog link too so that she could practice reading English. I booked my semi automatic bike for the loop. She briefed me about the plan. Everyone at the hostel would leave together the next day, at around 11AM.
I was super excited about this bike loop. A bit nervous too as I wasn’t sure how this would turn out. The randomness of this plan however excited me. It isn’t an adventure after without a bit of nervousness.
