March Update

Upon return, I got busy with work. Many of my students were having their final exams. My school G10 students had their board exam. When I went to meet them on the day of exam, I realised how much I had missed being between children. Their smiles and their talks made me happy.

I met a few friends of mine over lunch or breakfast. It is always good to catchup with friends after a long time. I went to the Alliance française to watch a good French film and a concert. It reminded me of my days as student there. Slowly, after Covid, alliance française is gaining its charm - more events are being planned.

I had to go for exam evaluation where, as an Additional head examiner, I got a chance to overlook the whole process. It was a tiring process but it was a great learning. It gave me a few sleepless nights with only papers and marks appearing in my dreams. But the teachers who had gathered there were super cool. Some brought home-made brownies, some threw a samosa party. It was a good time with lots of work and some fun.

After that, I got a bit free. I made calls to some friends and relatives with whom I had not spoken for a long time. After a brief period of engentado, I realise how important human relationships are.

I visited Shoolagiri dam again hoping to see the sunset but we missed it again due to the clouds. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful place to visit. We also stopped at the Perumal temple, Shiva temple and Ayappa temple in town before coming back.

I also trekked at Nijagal betta with two of my G10 students who had been requesting me to take them on a trek since a long time. I was happy to do this trek with them. The highlight though was driving behind the hill to visit in hope of reaching a lake but landing up in a local farm and having a conversation with the farmer.

On my last day at school, I went and met almost all the teachers I had worked with and known during these 5 years. I shared some sweets with them and thanked the management for the wonderful experience they had provided me. I had made this painting themed “Music” for my principal, thanking her for her support and guidance on my first job as a teacher. Thus a long eventful month came to an end.
