Backpacking TN- Day-05

Early next morning, I checked out from the hotel and headed to Trichy. I had breakfast in town and then took a bus to Ucchi Pillayar temple. Its in an impressive temple constructed on top of a hill and the approach is via steps cut through the huge boulder. It truly is amazing how the rock is carved from within and several small shrines have been built inside.

Our Lady of Lourdes church has some interesting architecture too.

I had some Nanari juice to quench my thirst before taking a bus to Srirangam. River cauvery was all dry, I presume it is partly because of the climate and partly because of all the dams constructed on it and its tributaries; in every state that it passes through.

I first visited the Thiruvanai Kovil. The temple complex is huge. I am mesmerised by the size of these ancient temples. I found some interesting art work on the pillars there.

I took an auto rickshaw to Sri Ranganathaswamy temple which was crowded. Looking at the crowd, I decided not to enter the temple and return to Bangalore. I was tired and did not want to spend a night in this busy town.

I took a bus back to Trichy, then boarded another to Salem. From Salem, I took a non-stop bus to Bangalore. By 10:30PM, I was back at home.

When I had begun this trip, I was a bit disturbed about a few things and definitely bored with my mundane life. But, this travel has filled me with so much energy! I felt good having met so many nice people on the road who helped me in some way or the other. Meeting them and accepting their kindness, helped me revive my faith in humanity!

Meeting 100 or more good people on the road have the power to lessen the effect of 6 or more who tried to harm or trouble you. From this trip, I return rediscovered, refreshed and reformed!
