Date: 05-Jan-2026
Distance (Time): 5km (3H)
I woke up around 7:30AM as the sunlight filled the valley. I freshened-up, had some black tea and packed my bags. After a good night’s sleep, I felt energised.
We had corn flakes and Poha for breakfast. Again, we were in no hurry to start as this was going to be a short trek as well. By the time we began our trek, it was 9:40AM.
There were a few steep climbs but overall it was an easy trek. The streams had frozen and cold wind was blowing all through. While walking, since the body warms up, it was fine, but stopping would make us feel cold.
As we reached Seema Thatch, we were welcomed by spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Even during first week of January the mountains had very little snow. This is rare.
We had our packed lunch - Alloo sabji and Chapatis. A 3 occupancy tent was pitched for us. It was spacious. I wore my thermals. Since it was very windy, we did not want to step out of the tent. Manan, Bhavya and I watched Season 3 of Family man while tea, snacks and soup were served at the tent by our kind cook and his helper.
At night, we had dinner - Chapati-Sabji, Rice-Dal and Gulab Jamoon for dessert. We went to bed as soon as we returned to the tent as we had to wake up at 4AM next morning to summit Gulabi Kantha.
