Harihara Betta

My school arranged a day trek for Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 students. I was requested to accompany them. I readily agreed. The trek was organised by Indiahikes. We left school in two buses and reached Hariharapura village, located a few kilometres from Chikkaballapura town. Here, we met the Indiahikes team.

The trek is easy. A flight of stairs first takes you to the Harihareshwar temple.

Then a steep climb takes you to the second level where there are remains of an ancient structure, perhaps a fort.

We then continued to the peak. The final climb is steep and can be difficult for beginners and those who aren't trekking with good shoes. For seasoned trekkers, this is an easy trek. There is a flat rock on the top. The views from there are amazing.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trek with the students. Their energy level is infectious. I shared some of my experiences and told them how trekking has taught me humility and simplicity. I am sure the students will look back at this experience differently after a few years.

Here is my video of the trek:

    1. Hello! No there is no washroom facility at the base. In case of emergency, you could request the villagers.
